Hot, Hot, Hot
When will "This Is Why I'm Hot" cross the atlantic? The song is number one on the Billboard charts. The remix with Junior Reid and Baby Cham is even better than the real thing.

Diplo was the first to post Dizzee Rascal's brand new track on his Mad Decent Blog.
Hiphouse is back on track!

A new song by Yelle is going round on the Internet. A good reason to post her Cuizi bashing of last year. "Je Veux Te Voir" a.k.a. "Short Dick Cuizi" is not very flattering, or you can say pretty rude (if you speak French).
This new song is "Ce Jeu" and the backing track is almost identical to "Let Me Go" by Heaven 17.
For all you karaoke lovers:

What do they put in the water in Scandinavia? Denmark brings us Trolle/Siebenhaar.
The first single "Sweet Dogs" is an irresistible and catchy melody on top of the solid groove of a reggae back beat. Please give us an album filled with this sweetness!
Best song of 2007?

Yeshe Perl is Mickey Avalon's real name. He's a white rap artist from Hollywood, California breathing life into a dead genre?
My dick cost a late night fee
Your dick got the HIV
My dick plays on the double feature screen
Your dick went straight to DVD

Adjust your clocks, because it's Summer Time (also called Daylight saving time, or DST). TM Juke's latest release on vinyl is summer music to get you vibing ...
With respect to the queen bee of Tru Thought Records TM Juke says:
"Also i’m getting ready to start working on the new Alice Russell LP, which we plan to finish for release at the end of the year, if all manner of superstars get off her back and let her in the studio!!! from Massive Attack to ?uestlove!".

It's styled like "Losing My Edge", but than in a very English way with a lot of humor: "The Beatles ... were just a band".
Subtitles:
Thou shalt not steal if there is a direct victim.
Thou shalt not worship pop idols or follow lost prophets.
Thou shalt not take the names of Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer, Johnny Hartman, Desmond Decker, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix or Syd Barret in vain.
Thou shalt not think that any male over the age of 30 that plays with a child that is not their own is a paedophile. Some people are just nice.
Thou shalt not read NME.
Thall shalt not stop liking a band just because they've become popular.
Thou shalt not question Stephen Fry.
Thou shalt not judge a book by it's cover.
Thou shalt not judge Lethal Weapon by Danny Glover.
Thall shalt not buy Coca-Cola products. Thou shalt not buy Nestle products.
Thou shalt not go into the woods with your boyfriend's best friend, take drugs and cheat on him.
Thou shalt not fall in love so easily.
Thou shalt not use poetry, art or music to get into girls' pants. Use it to get into their heads.
Thou shalt not watch Hollyoaks.
Thou shalt not attend an open mic and leave before it's done just because you've finished your shitty little poem or song you self-righteous prick.
Thou shalt not return to the same club or bar week in, week out just 'cause you once saw a girl there that you fancied but you're never gonna fucking talk to.
Thou shalt not put musicians and recording artists on ridiculous pedestals no matter how great they are or were.
The Beatles: Were just a band.
Led Zepplin: Just a band.
The Beach Boys: Just a band.
The Sex Pistols: Just a band.
The Clash: Just a band.
Crass: Just a band.
Minor Threat: Just a band.
The Cure: Just a band.
The Smiths: Just a band.
Nirvana: Just a band.
The Pixies: Just a band.
Oasis: Just a band.
Radiohead: Just a band.
Bloc Party: Just a band.
The Arctic Monkeys: Just a band.
The Next Big Thing... JUST A BAND.
Thou shalt give equal worth to tragedies that occur in non-English speaking countries as to those that occur in English speaking countries.
Thou shalt remember that guns, bitches and bling were never part of the four elements and never will be.
Thou shalt not make repetitive generic music, thou shalt not make repetitive generic music, thou shalt not make repetitive generic music, thou shalt not make repetitive generic music.
Thou shalt not pimp my ride.
Thou shalt not scream if you wanna go faster.
Thou shalt not move to the sound of the wickedness.
Thou shalt not make some noise for Detroit.
When I say "Hey" thou shalt not say "Ho".
When I say "Hip" thou shalt not say "Hop".
When I say, he say, she say, we say, make some noise - kill me.
Thou shalt not quote me happy.
Thou shalt not shake it like a polaroid picture.
Thou shalt not wish you girlfriend was a freak like me.
Thou shalt spell the word "Pheonix" P-H-E-O-N-I-X not P-H-O-E-N-I-X, regardless of what the Oxford English Dictionary tells you.
Thou shalt not express your shock at the fact that Sharon got off with Bradley at the club last night by saying "Is it".
Thou shalt think for yourselves.
And thou shalt always...
Thou shalt always kill!

Don't believe Nas. Listen to this guy called Wale from Washington DC. If I had a record label, I would sign him for sure.

If you like Peaches, you're going to like Trucks' "Titties".
And how about some ass shaking video of the new Arctic Monkeys single?
Back to the titties: almost everybody in Holland knows the next video. In 2001 this was on TV in heavy rotation. When you watch it, you know why ...
P.S. Bas Bron is the producer behind Bastian, Seymour Bits and De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig. "Watskeburt?!" is his finest piece of music. It was the bomb back in the summer of 2005 and even reached number one in Holland. Pete Tong played it on his radioshow after Deep Dish and before Tiga (January 23rd 2006), but sadly it never took off. Why?
Watskeburt is Dutch slang for "What happened?".

Amy Winehouse is full of surprises. In 2003 she was singing jazz on her debut album "Frank". Last year's release of "Back To Black" is stuffed with fifties/sixties girl group pop. And now she moves over to indie rock? Picking "Valerie" by The Zutons to cover. This girl's got taste.

The first full single from Cinematic Orchestra's forthcoming album "Ma Fleur" is the scintillating "Breathe", a devastatingly beautiful piece of music, starring Fontella Bass.
(The sound quality is poor, but that's mainly because the twelve inch will be officially released on April 9, 2007.)

Travelling is a lonely thing
A loneliness with unknown people in unknown places
Beware to keep your energy for socializing
Smiling, shaking hands
Telling your story
The truth or the untruth
But sometimes you'll meet an angel around the corner
An angel you'll never meet again
When I'm back, that's what I remember
Caroline Hervé (2003)
On July 14, 2007 I will be touching ground at Bogota Eldorado Airport, Colombia. Can't wait to go ... I wonder whether things have changed in Bogota since Mano Negra taped "Señor Matanza".

They're already labelled as the new Strokes. Is this it?
He might not be Julian Casablancas, but this vocalist also sings through his nose, or has he got a heavy cold?

Seldom a cover is better than the original. By accident I came across a brilliant version of Kevin Lyttle's "Turn Me On".

Timbaland started it by rapping "I'm a real producer and you just the piano man". Scott Storch answered with his super wacky song and video "Built Like Dat". Guess Paris Hilton and Brooke Hogan's beatmaker asked for a knock out. Timbaland rips him apart. Scott Who?

Hold tight, here comes another banger from producer/remixer Switch (Dave Taylor). This time he hooked up with Santogold and FreQ Nasty (Darin where have you been, man? Boomin' back at us?).
Switch will also produce the majority of the next M.I.A record "Power Power".

Legendary independent label Touch and Go Records will bring us the new adventures of Bianca and Sierra Casady on April 10. According to the press release the third CocoRosie album is "a departure from the obscured blur of stained glass rêve to a more self-exploitive memoir". Yeah, whatever! If the quality matches their previous records, or the teaser "Promise", I'm down with that.

Once upon a time, before there was Christina Aguilera and before there was Britney Spears, there was a sixteen year old Swedish girl, called Robin Miriam Carlsson a.k.a. Robyn singing "Do You Really Want Me (Show Respect)". It's 1995 and the song reaches #2 in the Swedish charts. Ten years later she breaks with her record company and starts her own label, Konichiwa Records. Her self titled album Robyn is released in Sweden and enters at #1 on the charts (May 5, 2005). Almost two years later the album is finally set be released in the UK (April 2, 2007)! First up is her single "Konichiwa Bitches" with a remix by Trentemoller. You can also watch the funny video by Fredrik Skogkvist at YouTube.

"We Are Your Friends" beat out Kanye West's big-budget action video at last year's MTV Europe Music Awards. Pretty strange if you bear in mind that Simian's collaboration with Justice dates back to July 2004 when it was released on Gigolo Records!
2006 gave us Simian Mobile Disco's "Hustler", "Tits & Acid" and "I Believe" (on the Kitsune Maison Compilation 3). Saam Farahmand made the "Hustler" video. It's simple, but effective. Or to put it in his own words: "Basically my sister seems to know every horny scenester in London and she managed to collect these girls together quite easily. They're called Girl Core, but my sister calls them the international party crew. They're basically a bunch of Spanish, French and Colombian girls who tour European festivals, take insane amounts of drugs, get off with each other and sprinkle glitter over scared indie kids. We had literally 2 hours to shoot this. The girls got drunk, coked and loved up off their faces." Seeing is believing!
World domination will be completed in 2007 with the release of their debut album on Wichita Recordings. Which will contain the songs mentioned above, and their newest killer tune "It's The Beat" featuring guest star Ninja from UK indie band The Go! Team on vocals.

The "Artist of the Year" in 2005 is back stronger than ever. After last years smashing single "XR2", M.I.A. spreads "Bird Flu" in 2007. Listen to the song at her MySpace page.

This is hot or should I say cool: Ice Cream. I can't get enough of it. Especially when it's sung by New Young Pony Club or by new kid on the block Muscles. Not yet available in shops but quoting the 22 year old Australian from Melbourne: "the first official release is a 12" vinyl in april through Bang Gang 12 inches, with the three singles One Inch Badge Pin, Ice Cream and Chocolate, Raspberry, Lemon & Lime with remixes by Van She, Tech and Bagraiders."

Let's kick things of with the best song of 2006. It's almost impossible you've missed this one. Now available on vinyl. Buy it somewhere on the Internet, if it isn't sold out already, because this shit is hot. Photographer and director Fredrik Skogkvist made the amazing video. Check it out and sing along:
Still I'm dying with every step I take
But I don't look back
And it hurts with every heartbeat
And it hurts with every heartbeat
