Chemical Beats

Due to a delay in the production of artwork for The Chemical Brothers forthcoming album "We Are The Night", the release date is now 2nd July. The first single from the album "Do It Again" is available for purchase as a digital download on 4th June, while 18th June sees the release of the track on CD, 12" and 7" single.

Of course we don't have to wait that long, because almost every new album gets leaked. Probably on purpose, just to hype it up a bit.

The new Chemical Brothers album is no exception to the rule. And it's definitely no let down. There are no club anthems on this one like "Hey Boy, Hey Girl" or "Galvanize", but it's more coherent and psychedelic.

Beautiful Life

Gui Boratto's "Beautiful Life" screams Ibiza! Or am I the only one hearing a summer anthem?

Only problem is the video. Kompakt released one which starts pretty boring, and doesn't match such a brilliant track.

Talented video directors, please, create a new video and throw it on YouTube like this one from Buenos Aires.

Not convinced? Listen to the complete eight minutes and thirty seconds and become a happy person.

Come Around

Will "Come Around" be this year's "Welcome To Jamrock"?

Collie Buddz is not from Jamaica, but from Bermuda. If you listen the song first and then watch the video, you're in for another big surprise.

Fields Of Joy

Swedish producer Axel Willner released his full-length debut as The Field on Kompakt: "From Here We Go Sublime". Instead of repetitive 4/4 beats, which become boring, Willner somehow put together a bunch of sounds one would never expect could go together, leading the listener into an amazing trancelike voyage. An extremely subtle minimalist masterpiece that works on the dancefloor, in your car and in your living room. Hearing is believing ...

Yeah

Chicago DJ duo Flosstradamus are going to be huge. Why? Listen to their 2006 mashup of Sigur Rós' "Staralfur" and Twista’s "Overnight Celebrity" on their myspace page! Or you can check out their hands-in-the-air dancefloor killer remix of Matt & Kim's "Yea Yeah".

What can I say about the original? Judge for yourself ...

Sweet Dogs

Island Germany just released a twelve inch of "Sweet Dogs" by Trolle/Siebenhaar. It features remixes by several big names like Oliver Koletzki and Martin Buttrich, but the winner is a very dubby Fat Tony Crew remix. On the downside it's only 4:28 long.

I think I will never get tired of "Sweet Dogs". Nothing can beat the original.

Check an older post to watch the stylish video, and spread the word ...

Teachers

Don't believe the hype! Gaspard Augé & Xavier de Rosnay are not the new Thomas Bangalter & Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo.

The new Justice song "D.A.N.C.E." can become big and classic like "Around The World", but their debut album (out June 11th on Ed Banger Records) is nowhere near "Homework". (The unofficial video is even better than the final version.)

Jens Moelle & Ismail Tuefekci are Digitalism and German, so they cannot be the new Daft Punk. The single "Pogo" will be out May 28th and the debut album "Idealism" will drop June 11th on Kitsuné.

James Ellis Ford & James Anthony Shaw are Simian Mobile Disco (and linked to Justice). Their debut album, "Attack Decay Sustain Release" will be released on June 18th 2007 on Wichita Recordings.

P.S. Of course the new albums of Justice, Digitalism and Simian Mobile Disco have already been leaked.

Colombia

After reporting some amazing modern music from Venezuela it's time for the neighbouring country Colombia to step into the spotlight.

Cream of the crop is Lucrecia. Her sound is primarily based on strong melodies layered with vocals, random noise and shades of electronica and pop. She uses software for the electronic component of her music, which is balanced by the use of melodica, guitar, flute and harmonica, creating a nice balance of acoustic and digital.

On her newest EP she gives more space to acoustic instruments en becomes more personal. Best song on this release is "Counting Backwards". You can download the complete EP for free (!) at www.seriesmedia.org.

Lucrecia already released an album called "Acerca" available on Mil Records (Mexico).

Everybody Wants To Rule The World

Guess the world slept on this one. Released way back in September 2005 by Hamburg based label Nobistor. I think it's a minimal house classic. Don't tell you don't know what DJ Phono & Jan Peter sampled on "Welcome To Your Life".

Adrenaline

DJ /rupture remixed the new Architecture In Helsinki single "Heart It Races" into a Caribbean anthem. He uses the steel drums of the original and builds a brand new tune out of it, even renaming the tune "Adrenaline".

The single "Heart It Races" is out on June 5th. The album "Places Like This" will follow 08/07/2007 on Polyvinyl.

To see another bunch of crazy Australians watch their video.

Dr. Love

Judging by the video of "Dr. Love" Australian band Bumblebeez are a bunch of nutcases who can make a catchy song.

Pour Un Flirt

"Allegations of R. Kelly's sexual activity with underage girls go as far back as 1991."

Robert Sylvester Kelly's music is usually total crap, but when Krames remixes "I'm A Flirt" it's a winner.

Boyz

M.I.A. (Maya Arulpragasam) went to Jamaica last week to film the video for "Boyz", the first single from the forthcoming Kala. It's a killerrr tune, but so far there's only a radio rip available.

Last week another new M.I.A. track was published on the Internet. "Hit That" is produced by Bangladesh, and will not be on "Kala"?
